Description
Radiographic, x-ray style rendering isolates the major paired salivary glands in an adult male, with the parotid glands positioned anteroinferior to the external acoustic meatus and draped over the ramus of the mandible, while the submandibular (submaxillary) glands sit inferior to the mandibular body within the submandibular triangle. Medial and superior to them, the sublingual glands occupy the floor of mouth along the sublingual fossa, lateral to the genioglossus and just inferior to the oral mucosa. The animation steps through a sequential reveal, clarifying bilateral symmetry and depth relationships as the glands appear in relation to the mandible, hyoid region, and upper cervical soft tissues.
