Layered over the external calvaria, the superficial temporal artery ascends anterior to the auricle, then divides into frontal and parietal branches that course superiorly across the squamous temporal bone toward the parietal region. Medially, the supraorbital and supratrochlear arteries emerge at the superior orbital margin and climb over the frontal bone, while posteriorly the occipital artery tracks superior to the superior nuchal line toward the external occipital protuberance, often accompanied by paired venae comitantes and superficial scalp veins. As the sequence progresses, vessels remain visually “superimposed” while the skull’s surface landmarks, coronal and sagittal sutures, lambdoid suture, and superior temporal line provide fixed reference points for their changing trajectories.
