Description
Anterior arm anatomy is presented from a frontal perspective, centered on the superficial contour of the biceps brachii and the course of its distal tendon as it narrows toward the antecubital fossa. Medial to the tendon, the expected position of the bicipital aponeurosis (lacertus fibrosus) fans into the antebrachial fascia, while the brachialis lies deep to biceps on the anterior humerus. Laterally, the brachioradialis forms the lateral border of the cubital fossa, with the cephalic vein typically tracking along the anterolateral arm toward the deltopectoral groove and the basilic vein more medial. Clinical relevance concentrates at the cubital fossa, where small changes in tendon contour and elbow crease anatomy carry diagnostic weight in distal biceps tendon rupture, partial tears, and bicipitoradial bursitis. The relationship between the biceps tendon, bicipital aponeurosis, and the brachial artery and median nerve deep in the fossa is a practical teaching point, because the aponeurosis can obscure swelling while also providing a protective layer during venipuncture. Short and direct. This anterior surface view also supports discussion of musculocutaneous nerve territory and the transition to the lateral antebrachial cutaneous nerve in the proximal forearm.
