Description

Anterior transparent torso rendering places the paired kidneys retroperitoneally on either side of the vertebral column, with the right kidney positioned slightly inferior to the left beneath the costal margin. From each renal hilum, the renal pelvis narrows into a ureter that descends inferiorly along the posterior abdominal wall, crossing the pelvic brim to enter the urinary bladder at the posterolateral angles of the trigone. In the midline pelvis, the bladder sits posterior to the pubic symphysis, and the short female urethra continues inferiorly from the bladder neck toward the perineum. Natural relationships are kept clear. Frontal whole-body context matters for teaching how the urinary tract tracks from the upper abdomen into the true pelvis, and where symptoms localize. Ureteral stones often produce flank pain that radiates anteroinferiorly as the calculus migrates from the ureteropelvic junction past the iliac vessels to the ureterovesical junction, a frequent site of obstruction. That pelvic trajectory also frames common iatrogenic risk, the ureter’s close course near the uterine artery in gynecologic surgery and near the cervix and vaginal fornix during hysterectomy. Use this artwork in gross anatomy and urogenital blocks, nursing and PA curricula, or patient-facing education that needs an anatomically faithful depiction of kidneys, ureters, bladder, and female urethra in situ within a Black female figure. It also suits nephrology and urology slide decks introducing urinary tract anatomy before discussions of hydronephrosis, vesicoureteral reflux, or catheterization technique. Anatomical accuracy verified by SciePro's Medical Advisory Board.
