Description

Seen in lateral profile, the distal femur overlies the proximal tibia, with the lateral femoral condyle articulating against the lateral tibial plateau across a visibly narrowed tibiofemoral joint space. Anterior to the condyles, the patella sits within the extensor mechanism, its posterior articular surface facing the femoral trochlea. Residual articular cartilage appears thinned and irregular at the weight-bearing margins, and the meniscal wedge between femur and tibia is reduced in height, consistent with degenerative extrusion on the lateral side.
