Description
Centered on the female pelvis in anterior orientation, the illustration situates the urinary bladder anterior to the uterus and superior to the pelvic floor, with the urethra descending inferiorly toward the urogenital hiatus. Posterior to the uterus, the rectum follows the sacral curve to the anal canal, where a segment of rectal wall everts beyond the anal verge, consistent with rectal prolapse. Small intestine occupies the superior pelvic inlet, while the peritoneal reflections define the vesicouterine and rectouterine (Douglas) pouches between these viscera. Pelvic anatomy, exposed.
