Description
A 3D model of a blood pressure measurement device showing the inflatable cuff positioned on the upper arm over the brachial artery. The cuff bladder, pressure gauge or digital sensor, and inflation mechanism are represented. Blood pressure measurement by cuff sphygmomanometry relies on the Riva-Rocci principle. The cuff inflates to occlude the brachial artery, then slowly deflates while Korotkoff sounds are auscultated or oscillometric signals detected. Systolic pressure corresponds to the first appearance of sounds (or oscillation onset), and diastolic pressure to their disappearance. Proper cuff sizing relative to arm circumference is critical for accurate readings. Blood pressure measurement technique and device anatomy are foundational clinical skills taught across all medical disciplines. Medical advisory board reviewed. Ready for rendering, real-time engines, and 3D printing.
