Description
A cross section of the cerebellum, cut to expose the internal architecture. The arbor vitae pattern of white matter branching into the cortical folia is visible, with the three-layered cerebellar cortex (molecular, Purkinje, and granular layers) covering each folium. The deep cerebellar nuclei, including the dentate nucleus, sit within the white matter core. The cerebellum coordinates movement, balance, and motor learning. It receives input from the spinal cord, brainstem, and cerebral cortex, processes it through its circuitry, and sends output primarily through the deep nuclei to modulate motor commands. Cerebellar anatomy is studied in neuroanatomy, neurology, and neurosurgery courses. The arbor vitae pattern is one of the most recognizable features in brain sectioning. Medical advisory board reviewed. Ready for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
