Description

A 3D model showing the three components of the cell's cytoskeleton. Microtubules are rigid tubes radiating from the centrosome. Microfilaments (actin) form a cortical meshwork beneath the plasma membrane. Intermediate filaments provide tensile strength and anchor the nucleus. The cytoskeleton maintains cell shape, enables movement, organizes organelles, and provides the tracks for intracellular transport. During cell division, microtubules form the mitotic spindle. Actin drives cell motility and membrane dynamics. Cytoskeleton anatomy is taught in cell biology courses. Medical advisory board reviewed. Clean geometry for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
