Description
A 3D model of an eosinophil, a granulocyte with a bilobed nucleus and large, refractile granules that stain red-orange with eosin dye. The granules contain major basic protein, eosinophil cationic protein, and other cytotoxic molecules effective against parasites. Eosinophils evolved primarily to combat parasitic infections, releasing their granule contents onto large organisms too big to phagocytose. In developed countries where parasites are rare, eosinophils are more commonly associated with allergic diseases like asthma, where their activation causes tissue damage. Eosinophil anatomy is studied in immunology and allergy education. Medical advisory board reviewed. Clean geometry for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
