Description
A cross section of the female breast illustrating the stages of breast cancer progression through the tissue layers. The model shows how ductal carcinoma begins within the milk duct lining and advances from in situ disease through the basement membrane into invasive cancer that infiltrates the surrounding stroma. Stage progression corresponds to how deeply and widely the tumor invades: from ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) confined within the duct, to invasive carcinoma penetrating the duct wall, to locally advanced disease involving the skin or chest wall. Each stage is represented in the same section for direct comparison. Cancer staging models are used for patient education, oncology training, and treatment decision discussions. Seeing the stages in a single view helps patients understand their diagnosis relative to the overall progression. Reviewed by a medical advisory board. Ready for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
