Description

A cross section of the female breast showing a hematoma, a collection of blood within the breast tissue following trauma or surgery. The hematoma occupies a space within the parenchyma, displacing the surrounding ductal and glandular tissue. Its borders may be well-defined in acute cases or irregular as the blood begins to organize. Breast hematomas can result from blunt trauma, surgical procedures, or anticoagulation therapy. On imaging, they can mimic malignant masses, making the clinical history an important factor in differential diagnosis. Most resolve spontaneously, but large or expanding hematomas may require surgical evacuation. The model is useful for patient education after breast surgery, radiology training on differentiating hematoma from tumor, and clinical teaching. Reviewed by a medical advisory board. Ready for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
