Description
An isolated 3D model of the female small intestine, tracing its three segments from the duodenal C-loop through the jejunum and into the ileum. The duodenum wraps around the head of the pancreas, receiving bile and pancreatic secretions at the major duodenal papilla. The jejunum transitions gradually into the ileum, with the jejunal walls appearing thicker and more vascular. The mesentery fans out from the posterior abdominal wall, suspending the jejunum and ileum and carrying their blood supply from the superior mesenteric artery. The ileum terminates at the ileocecal junction, where it meets the cecum of the large intestine. Small intestinal anatomy is central to gastroenterology, nutritional science, and abdominal surgery. The isolated model allows the full course to be studied without the colon, stomach, and other organs obscuring it. Medical advisory board reviewed. Ready for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
