Description
An isolated 3D model of the female thyroid gland, showing the right and left lobes connected by the isthmus across the anterior trachea. The parathyroid glands sit on the posterior surface of each thyroid lobe, typically two on each side. The thyroid's vascular supply from the superior and inferior thyroid arteries is represented. The thyroid produces thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), which regulate metabolism throughout the body. The parathyroid glands secrete parathyroid hormone, controlling calcium homeostasis. Their close anatomical relationship makes them a surgical concern during thyroidectomy. Thyroid anatomy is studied in endocrinology, head and neck surgery, and radiology. The isolated model provides a clear view of the gland's shape and its relationship to the trachea. Medical advisory board reviewed. Ready for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
