Description
A 3D model of the male colon showing a left colostomy, where the descending or sigmoid colon is brought through the abdominal wall to form a stoma. The distal bowel segment is either closed or removed, depending on the surgical indication. The stoma site is visible on the abdominal surface. Left colostomies are typically performed for sigmoid or rectal pathology, including cancer, diverticular perforation, or trauma. The stool that passes through a left-sided stoma is usually formed, since most water absorption has already occurred in the proximal colon. The model supports patient education before stoma surgery, ostomy care training, and surgical anatomy teaching. Reviewed by a medical advisory board. Clean geometry for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
