Male Colon Right Colostomy

Description

A 3D model of the male colon showing a right colostomy, where the ascending colon or cecum is brought to the abdominal surface as a stoma. The distal bowel may be closed, removed, or left as a mucous fistula. The stoma is positioned on the right side of the abdomen. Right colostomies are less common than left-sided ones and produce liquid to semi-formed output, since the proximal colon has not yet absorbed most of the water content. They are performed for right-sided tumors, trauma, or when the entire distal colon is diseased. Useful for surgical education, ostomy care teaching, and patient counseling.
