Description
An anterior cross section of the adult male heart, cut along the coronal plane to expose the internal architecture of all four chambers. The sectioning plane removes the front wall of the ventricles and atria, revealing the mitral valve, tricuspid valve, and their associated papillary muscles and chordae tendineae from a direct frontal viewing angle. The left ventricular wall shows its characteristic thickness relative to the right ventricle, and the interventricular septum is clearly visible dividing the two pumping chambers. Atrial anatomy is exposed above, with the interatrial septum and fossa ovalis on display. The great vessels, including the ascending aorta and pulmonary trunk, remain intact at their origins. The anterior cut is the most commonly used sectional view in cardiology education. Textbooks, patient brochures, and surgical planning presentations regularly rely on this perspective to explain conditions like septal defects, valvular disease, and ventricular hypertrophy.
