Description

An animated cross section of the adult male heart oriented to expose the aortic root and left ventricular outflow tract during a beating cycle. The three semilunar cusps of the aortic valve open and close in rhythm with ventricular contraction, and the coronary ostia are visible at the root where the left and right coronary arteries originate. During systole, rising left ventricular pressure forces the cusps apart, and blood ejects into the ascending aorta. As pressure drops in diastole, the cusps snap shut, preventing backflow. The sinuses of Valsalva behind each cusp fill during closure, directing blood into the coronary arteries. A mechanism that static models can only diagram, not demonstrate. Animated aortic root anatomy has direct applications in interventional cardiology education, particularly for explaining transcatheter aortic valve replacement procedures, bicuspid valve mechanics, and aortic stenosis progression. Surgeons, device manufacturers, and clinical educators benefit from seeing the valve in motion rather than frozen mid-cycle. Medical advisory board verified. Standard animation export for rendering and real-time engines.
