Description
A second lateral cross section of the adult male heart, cut along a sagittal plane that prioritizes the left-side chambers. The section exposes the left atrium, left ventricle, and the mitral (bicuspid) valve in a profile that highlights the high-pressure side of the heart. The left ventricular wall dominates the view with its thick myocardium. The two papillary muscles, anterolateral and posteromedial, anchor the mitral valve's chordae tendineae. Above, the left atrium opens to receive the pulmonary veins, and the aortic outflow tract is visible at the superior margin of the ventricle. Paired with Lateral Section I, this model completes a bilateral perspective of the heart's internal layout. The left-side focus supports teaching about mitral valve prolapse, aortic stenosis, left ventricular hypertrophy, and other conditions concentrated on the systemic circulation side. Medical advisory board reviewed. Export-ready for rendering, real-time engines, and 3D print workflows.
