Description
An animated lateral cross section of the adult male heart focused on the left-side chambers, cycling through a full cardiac contraction. The sagittal cut opens the left atrium and left ventricle, and the animation drives the mitral valve, papillary muscles, and thick left ventricular wall through systole and diastole. During systole, the left ventricular myocardium contracts inward with a wringing motion, closing the mitral leaflets and pushing blood through the aortic outflow tract. Diastole follows as the chamber relaxes, the mitral valve reopens, and blood flows in from the pulmonary veins through the left atrium. The two papillary muscles, anterolateral and posteromedial, tense and release with each cycle. Paired with the animated Lateral Section I, this model completes a bilateral view of the beating heart. The left-side perspective suits teaching about mitral valve dynamics, left ventricular ejection, and conditions like mitral regurgitation or aortic stenosis where motion patterns change. All anatomy verified by a medical advisory board. Exports to standard formats for rendering and real-time platforms.
