Description

An animated transverse cross section through the adult male heart at mid-ventricular level, looping through the cardiac cycle. The horizontal cut exposes the circular left ventricle and crescent-shaped right ventricle from above, and the animation drives both walls through their contraction and relaxation phases. The left ventricular wall thickens inward during systole, reducing the chamber lumen, while the right ventricle compresses in a bellows-like motion. The interventricular septum shifts during contraction, and papillary muscles tense and relax within both chambers. Wall motion patterns visible here mirror those assessed on short-axis cardiac MRI and echocardiography. Animated transverse heart sections are useful for teaching concepts like regional wall motion abnormalities, which indicate ischemic damage from coronary artery disease. Cardiology educators, imaging instructors, and patient communication teams can use this model to explain what diagnostic imaging reveals about heart function. Reviewed by a medical advisory board for anatomical accuracy. Ready for rendering and real-time engine export.
