Description

A cross section of the male pancreas showing a serous cystadenoma. The lesion appears as a well-defined mass with a microcystic or honeycomb pattern, composed of numerous small cysts filled with serous fluid. A central stellate scar may be visible within the lesion. Serous cystadenomas are benign pancreatic tumors with virtually no malignant potential. They are most common in older women but occur in men as well. Their characteristic imaging appearance, with tiny cysts and a central scar, usually allows confident diagnosis without biopsy. Most are managed conservatively unless symptoms arise from mass effect. The model supports gastroenterology education and patient reassurance. Reviewed by a medical advisory board. Ready for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
