Description
A 3D model of the male small intestine showing intussusception, where one segment of bowel telescopes into the adjacent segment. The invaginated portion (intussusceptum) carries its mesentery and blood supply into the receiving segment (intussuscipiens), which compresses the vessels and can lead to ischemia and obstruction. Intussusception causes bowel obstruction as the telescoped segment blocks the lumen and strangulates the mesenteric blood supply. In adults, a lead point such as a polyp, tumor, or Meckel's diverticulum is usually present. The condition requires urgent diagnosis and management. The model supports emergency medicine teaching, surgical anatomy education, and patient communication. Reviewed by a medical advisory board. Ready for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
