Description

An anterior cross section of the male stomach and distal esophagus showing esophageal cancer at the gastroesophageal junction. The tumor mass narrows the esophageal lumen and invades through the wall layers. The transition zone between esophageal squamous and gastric columnar epithelium is the most common site for adenocarcinoma. Esophageal cancer at the GEJ has been increasing in incidence, linked to chronic gastroesophageal reflux and Barrett's esophagus. The tumor's proximity to the diaphragmatic hiatus and its tendency to spread along the submucosal lymphatic plexus make staging and surgical planning complex. The model supports oncology education, surgical anatomy teaching, and patient counseling. Reviewed by a medical advisory board. Clean geometry for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
