Description
An isolated 3D model of the male thymus, showing the bilobed organ in the anterior mediastinum. The gland sits behind the sternum and in front of the great vessels. Each lobe is subdivided into lobules with cortical and medullary regions. The thymus is the site of T lymphocyte maturation and selection. It is largest during childhood and progressively involutes after puberty, though its early function establishes the immune repertoire for life. Thymic anatomy is studied in immunology and thoracic surgery. Medical advisory board reviewed. Clean geometry for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
