Description
A 3D model showing the mesentery with the bowel pulled aside to expose the mesenteric fan. The mesentery is a continuous double fold of peritoneum connecting the intestines to the posterior abdominal wall. Blood vessels, lymphatics, and nerves travel within the mesentery to reach the bowel. The mesentery is now recognized as a continuous organ rather than fragmented attachments. Its root runs obliquely from the duodenojejunal junction to the ileocecal area. The fan shape allows considerable bowel mobility while maintaining vascular connections. Mesenteric anatomy is studied in abdominal surgery and anatomy courses. Medical advisory board reviewed. Ready for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
