Description
A 3D model of a neutrophil, the most abundant white blood cell type. The cell has a characteristic multi-lobed nucleus (typically 3-5 lobes) and cytoplasm filled with granules containing antimicrobial enzymes and peptides. The cell shape reflects its role in squeezing through blood vessel walls to reach infection sites. Neutrophils are the first responders to bacterial infections. They migrate to infection sites within hours, engulf pathogens, and kill them using reactive oxygen species and granule contents. They also release neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) that ensnare bacteria. Neutrophil anatomy is studied in immunology and hematology. Medical advisory board reviewed. Clean geometry for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
