Description
A 3D cross-section model of cystic acne showing the large, deep inflammatory nodule extending into the subcutaneous tissue. The ruptured follicular wall has released its contents into the surrounding dermis, provoking an intense inflammatory response. Cystic acne represents the most severe form of acne vulgaris. Follicular rupture releases keratin, sebum, bacteria, and inflammatory mediators into the deep dermis, producing a large, painful, fluctuant nodule. The intense granulomatous inflammation extends beyond the original follicle and often leads to permanent scarring. These lesions do not respond adequately to topical therapy and typically require isotretinoin. Nodulocystic acne demonstrates the full depth of acne pathology from follicular plugging to deep tissue destruction. Medical advisory board reviewed. Ready for rendering, real-time engines, and 3D printing.
