Description
A 3D cross-section model of an acne pustule showing the neutrophil-filled collection at the follicular ostium overlying the inflamed sebaceous follicle. The surrounding dermis shows erythema and perifollicular inflammatory infiltrate. Acne pustules develop when the closed comedone's follicular wall is breached by enzymatic degradation from Cutibacterium acnes and the resulting immune response. Neutrophils accumulate at the follicular opening, forming the visible pus point. The dermis surrounding the follicle shows a mixed inflammatory infiltrate. Pustules represent moderate inflammatory acne and occupy the clinical spectrum between papules and nodules. The acne pustule model shows the transition from non-inflammatory to inflammatory acne at the tissue level. Medical advisory board reviewed. Clean geometry for rendering, real-time engines, and 3D printing.
