Description
A 3D model illustrating spermatogenesis within a cross section of a seminiferous tubule. The model shows the progression of germ cells from spermatogonia at the basement membrane through primary and secondary spermatocytes to spermatids and finally mature spermatozoa released into the lumen. Sertoli cells span the epithelium. Spermatogenesis takes approximately 64 days and occurs continuously from puberty onward. Sertoli cells support and nourish the developing germ cells and create the blood-testis barrier that isolates the process from the immune system. Spermatogenesis anatomy is studied in reproductive biology and histology courses. Medical advisory board reviewed. Ready for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
