Description
A sagittal section through the testis, cut to reveal the internal compartments. The seminiferous tubules fill the lobules, separated by septa extending from the tunica albuginea to the mediastinum testis. The tubules converge at the rete testis, which connects to the efferent ductules and the head of the epididymis. Spermatogenesis occurs within the seminiferous tubules, where germ cells progress from spermatogonia at the basement membrane to mature spermatozoa released into the lumen. Sertoli cells support this process, and Leydig cells in the interstitial tissue produce testosterone. Testicular anatomy is studied in reproductive medicine, urology, and histology. The sagittal section reveals the ductal pathway from spermatogenesis to the epididymis. Medical advisory board reviewed. Ready for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
