Description
An anterior cross section of the uterus showing pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). The fallopian tubes appear inflamed and edematous (salpingitis), with purulent material visible in the tubal lumen. The surrounding structures show inflammatory changes affecting the ovaries and pelvic peritoneum. PID is an ascending infection, typically caused by Chlamydia trachomatis or Neisseria gonorrhoeae, that spreads from the cervix through the uterus to the tubes and beyond. Untreated PID causes tubal scarring, tubo-ovarian abscess, and long-term consequences including chronic pelvic pain, ectopic pregnancy risk, and infertility. The model supports infectious disease education, gynecological training, and patient communication. Reviewed by a medical advisory board. Clean geometry for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
