Description
A 3D model of a vein showing the three-layered wall structure and the internal valves that prevent backflow. The vein wall is thinner than an artery's, with less smooth muscle and elastic tissue in the tunica media. The valves are formed from endothelial folds that open toward the heart. Veins return blood to the heart under low pressure. The valves are essential for venous return in the limbs, where blood must travel against gravity. Valve failure leads to venous insufficiency and varicose veins. Venous anatomy is studied in cardiovascular physiology and vascular surgery. Medical advisory board reviewed. Clean geometry for rendering, real-time, and 3D printing.
