Description
Shown in an upright anatomical position with the arms held slightly abducted, the upper limb is presented as external surface anatomy from shoulder to hand, with the shoulder region color-emphasized to draw attention to the deltoid contour over the glenohumeral joint. The clavicular line and acromial region sit superior to the rounded deltoid bulk, while the arm tapers distally toward the elbow where the lateral epicondylar contour and olecranon region define the humeroulnar hinge. Along the forearm, the proximal muscle bellies transition into distal tendinous outlines toward the wrist, and the hand is oriented in line with the forearm, allowing clear appreciation of proximal to distal proportions. Skin surface landmarks and muscular relief are rendered on an adult Black male model with realistic tone and texture against a neutral background. Color emphasis at the shoulder makes this view useful for teaching the relationship between the deltoid and deeper stabilizers of the joint, including the rotator cuff tendons that lie deep to the deltoid and converge on the greater tubercle of the humerus. It also supports clinical orientation for common scenarios such as anterior shoulder dislocation, where the humeral head translates anteroinferiorly relative to the glenoid, and for safe intramuscular deltoid injection placement in the mid-deltoid region to avoid the axillary nerve coursing deep to the muscle around the surgical neck. A clean surface anatomy presentation. No distractions. Use this asset in musculoskeletal anatomy and physical examination teaching to anchor palpation landmarks (acromion, lateral epicondyle, olecranon, radial styloid) and to illustrate patient positioning for shoulder and elbow assessment in manuals, e-learning modules, and patient-facing diagrams. It also fits orthopedic and sports medicine publications discussing rotator cuff disease, adhesive capsulitis, or injection technique where a clear external upper extremity reference is needed. Anatomical accuracy verified by SciePro's Medical Advisory Board.
