Description
Anteriorly oriented, full-body anatomy of an adult female is rendered with the skin partially transparent so the superficial and deep layers read at once. Mammary tissue lies on the pectoralis major, with lactiferous ducts converging toward the nipple-areolar complex and supported by fibrous septa within the breast. Across the trunk, the rectus abdominis runs vertically on either side of the linea alba, flanked laterally by the external oblique and its aponeurosis, while major neurovascular pathways track along the limbs and torso in parallel. Arterial and venous trees branch through the upper extremities, and named peripheral nerves course alongside them. Seeing breast parenchyma in continuity with the chest wall and axilla matters when teaching lymphatic drainage patterns and the common routes of spread for breast carcinoma, where lesions in the upper outer quadrant often relate clinically to axillary node involvement. The abdominal wall is another practical focus: the relationship of rectus sheath, linea alba, and segmental vessels underpins common ventral and umbilical hernias and guides safe trocar placement in laparoscopy. Neurovascular pairing is a teaching point. It is where iatrogenic injury happens. Use this illustration for gross anatomy and surface anatomy courses, nursing and PA curricula that integrate venipuncture and regional neurovascular anatomy, and medical publishing layouts that need a single plate to orient readers to female viscera and somatic structures without switching figures. It also fits patient-facing education for breast surgery, hernia repair, and procedures that rely on anterior landmarks while respecting sex-specific anatomy and body habitus. Anatomical accuracy verified by SciePro's Medical Advisory Board.
