Description

Seen from the lateral aspect, the male brachium is dominated proximally by the deltoid muscle forming a rounded shoulder cap that drapes over the lateral humerus. Inferior to it, the humeral shaft creates a clean longitudinal contour, with brachialis deep to the anterior compartment and triceps brachii occupying the posterior compartment as it courses toward the olecranon. The lateral intermuscular septum partitions anterior from posterior musculature along the lateral humerus, while the lateral epicondylar region marks the distal transition toward the forearm. Bony alignment reads clearly. That lateral profile matters when you need surface anatomy to match underlying landmarks: the deltoid tuberosity and the midshaft humerus help orient fracture level and displacement patterns, and the distal third brings you into the neighborhood of the radial nerve as it pierces the lateral intermuscular septum before running anteriorly.
