Description
Dorsal anatomy of the fourth (ring) finger is presented in anatomical position, with the skin and superficial fascia cleared to track the extensor pathway along the posterior digit. The extensor digitorum tendon courses centrally over the metacarpophalangeal joint and continues distally as the extensor expansion (dorsal digital expansion), where contributions from the lumbrical and interossei blend on the radial and ulnar sides. Distal slips converge toward the middle and distal phalanges, spanning the proximal interphalangeal and distal interphalangeal joints with the nail plate and distal tuft lying most distal.
