Description

Posterior shoulder anatomy is presented with the scapular spine running transversely across the dorsal surface of the scapula, dividing the supraspinous fossa superiorly from the infraspinous fossa inferiorly. The acromion forms the lateral continuation of the spine and overhangs the glenohumeral joint, while the medial border of the scapula sits closer to the vertebral column. Superficial fibers of trapezius converge laterally toward the acromion and spine, with the posterior deltoid occupying the posterolateral contour of the shoulder. Clear bony landmarks.
