Description
Viewed from a superior (occlusal) perspective, the translucent mandible frames the full mandibular dental arch while the mandibular lateral incisor is isolated in blue along the anterior midline region. Mesial to it lies the mandibular central incisor, and distal to it the mandibular canine, with the incisal edge oriented anteriorly and the crown tapering toward the cervical margin. The crown perimeter reads slightly asymmetric, a common trait of mandibular lateral incisors, and the enamel cap can be differentiated from underlying dentine by the transparent treatment of the surrounding jaw. Occlusal anatomy of the mandibular incisors matters because small differences in crown outline and contact area location drive both diagnosis and treatment planning.
