Description
Seen in left lateral profile, the lower eyelid (palpebra inferior) forms a gentle convexity over the globe, ending inferiorly in the infrapalpebral sulcus, a shallow skin crease just below the ciliary margin. The sulcus tracks anterior to the infraorbital rim and lies superior to the malar eminence, where the eyelid transitions toward the cheek. Posteriorly, the contour implies the underlying orbital septum and orbital fat, while anteriorly the thin palpebral skin drapes over the pretarsal and preseptal portions of orbicularis oculi.
