Presented in anatomical position from an anterior perspective, three adult Caucasian male figures are arranged to contrast ectomorph, mesomorph, and endomorph somatotypes. Shoulder girdle breadth, thoracic contour, abdominal profile, and pelvic width shift across the set, with the ectomorph showing a narrower biacromial width and reduced limb girth, the mesomorph demonstrating wider shoulders with a tighter waist, and the endomorph displaying a broader trunk with increased subcutaneous contour over the abdomen and hips. Upper and lower limbs remain oriented with the upper extremities lateral to the trunk and the lower extremities inferior, allowing direct side by side comparison of proportional differences. Somatotype comparisons matter most when teaching how habitus alters surface anatomy and clinical assessment from the front of the body, where landmarks can be obscured or accentuated. Central adiposity can blunt the definition of the linea alba and costal margin, complicating abdominal examination and changing how clinicians estimate waist circumference and cardiometabolic risk. At the other end of the spectrum, low subcutaneous fat and narrower shoulders can make bony landmarks appear prominent, which affects tape measurements, garment sizing for protective equipment, and even the fit of ECG leads and defibrillator pads.
