Description
Across the anterior face, the orbicularis oculi encircles each palpebral fissure while the frontalis (frontal belly of occipitofrontalis) spreads superiorly over the forehead and blends inferiorly toward the brow. Orbicularis oris forms the muscular sphincter around the mouth, and the buccinator lies deep in the cheek, oriented posterior to the oral fissure and anterior to the masseteric region, while a highlighted superficial band at the mouth angle is consistent with the risorius or a zygomaticus insertion emphasizing smile mechanics. Inferiorly, paired sternocleidomastoid muscles frame the anterior neck, running obliquely from the manubrium and medial clavicle to the mastoid process, with the submandibular region and suprahyoid plane suggested by the overlying facial attachments.
