Description

Palmar anatomy of the female manus is presented in anterior view, extending from the distal forearm into the carpus, metacarpus, and all five digits. Superficially, the thenar and hypothenar eminences flank the central palmar aponeurosis, with the flexion creases marking the metacarpophalangeal, proximal interphalangeal, and distal interphalangeal joints from radial thumb to ulnar little finger. The thumb sits lateral in anatomical position, its shorter proximal and distal phalanges aligned for opposition against the longer triphalangeal index through little fingers, while the broad palm transitions proximally toward the wrist where the flexor retinaculum spans the carpal tunnel.
