Running along the anterior orbital floor of the maxilla, the infraorbital groove appears as a narrow sulcus just inferior to the orbital rim and lateral to the lacrimal fossa, tracking forward toward the infraorbital canal. As the animation advances, the groove is oriented in relation to the inferior orbital fissure posterolaterally and to the medial orbital wall formed by the lacrimal bone and ethmoid, clarifying how the channel transitions from an open groove to an enclosed bony tunnel within the maxillary body. Surrounding landmarks such as the infraorbital margin and the anterior surface of the maxilla provide anterior, medial, and lateral reference points as the camera settles into a true anterior perspective. Clinical relevance centers on the infraorbital neurovascular bundle: the infraorbital nerve (V2) and accompanying vessels traverse the infraorbital groove and canal en route to the infraorbital foramen, and fractures of the orbital floor or anterior maxillary wall can injure or entrap these structures.
