Description
Palmar anatomy of the adult male manus is presented in anterior view, with the thenar eminence positioned radially and the hypothenar eminence ulnarly, framing the central hollow of the palm. Distal to the carpal region, the proximal and distal transverse palmar creases are visible, with longitudinal digital creases continuing toward the bases of the digits. The thumb lies lateral in anatomical position, while digits II through V align from radial to ulnar, their palmar pads and flexion folds marking the metacarpophalangeal and interphalangeal levels. Surface landmarks on the palm matter because they track the mechanics and constraints of the palmar aponeurosis and the underlying flexor apparatus, and they guide palpation when pain, swelling, or sensory symptoms localize to a specific ray.
