Description

Centered on the cubitus (elbow) of an adult female, the art resolves the distal humerus with the trochlea and capitulum articulating with the trochlear notch of the ulna and the head of the radius, framed by the medial and lateral epicondyles. Anteriorly, the coronoid process and radial fossa align with the coronoid process of the ulna and the radial head during flexion, while posteriorly the olecranon nests into the olecranon fossa in extension. Collateral support is organized medially by the ulnar (medial) collateral ligament complex and laterally by the radial (lateral) collateral ligament blending with the annular ligament that encircles the radial head. Proximally the biceps brachii tendon approaches the radial tuberosity, and distally the common flexor and extensor origins anchor to their respective epicondyles. Clear landmarks.
