Description
Along the lateral aspect of the posterior female antebrachium, the extensor compartment forms a continuous muscular mass from the lateral epicondyle region proximally toward the distal radius and ulna. Superficial bellies of extensor carpi radialis longus and brevis lie anterolateral to extensor digitorum, while extensor carpi ulnaris tracks more posterior and ulnar as it approaches the wrist. The brachioradialis defines the lateral border anteriorly, and the distal tendinous portions converge toward the dorsal wrist where the extensor retinaculum would course transversely to constrain them.
