Description
Curled in a typical intrauterine flexed posture, a 35 week human fetus is shown in lateral profile with the head flexed toward the thorax, hips and knees in flexion, and the forearms drawn across the shins. Craniofacial contours are well defined, including the forehead, nasal bridge, lips, chin, and external ear, with the neck shortened by physiologic flexion. Distally, individual digits are visible on the hands and feet, and the rounded abdomen sits anterior to the pelvis, consistent with late third trimester proportions. No placenta, chorion, or umbilical cord is included, keeping attention on the conceptus itself.
