Description
Fetal anatomy at 32 weeks’ gestation fills the uterine cavity in lateral profile, with the head oriented toward the uterine fundus and the trunk flexed so the spine arcs posteriorly relative to the anterior uterine wall. Placental tissue is attached to the endometrium along one side of the uterus, and the umbilical cord courses from the fetal umbilicus to its placental insertion, occupying the amniotic space between fetus and chorion. Inferiorly, the lower uterine segment and cervix define the outlet of the uterine cavity, providing spatial context for fetal lie and presenting part. Asian skin tone is integrated across the fetal integument. At 32 weeks, obstetric decision-making often turns on placental location, cord insertion, and fetal presentation, so a fixed lateral perspective that keeps uterus, placenta, and cord in one frame supports quick teaching of what is “maternal side” versus “fetal side” anatomy.
