Fetus at gestational week 33 occupies most of the uterine cavity in a lateral (sagittal) perspective, with the fetal head and flexed spine forming a compact third trimester posture. The placenta lines the uterine wall on one side of the cavity, while the umbilical cord courses from the fetal umbilicus to its placental insertion, creating a direct visual link between fetus and chorionic plate. Surrounding structures include the myometrium and decidual lining of the gravid uterus, with the amniotic compartment containing the fetus in close apposition to the uterine wall. Week 33 anatomy is a practical reference point for obstetric counseling because fetal growth accelerates, presentation becomes clinically relevant, and placental location can influence labor planning, bleeding risk, and operative approach when low implantation or previa is present.
